The Right Way to Clean Your Vehicle's Engine

Here at Glassford Chrysler, one of our goals is to provide our consumers with information that helps them properly care for their vehicles. The engine is one of the most important components of a vehicle, and it will run smoothly if it's kept clean. But how do you clean your vehicle's engine?

Try to clean the engine on a warm day when there is low humidity. It is also important that you clean the engine when it's cool. If you are planning to clean an engine that has been running, wait at least 15 minutes before you begin.

Remove plastic covers from under the hood, and cover electrical components with plastic bags. Spray the engine compartment with a degreaser, and you can scrub caked-on dirt and oil with a brush that is made with synthetic bristles. Rinse the engine compartment with a water hose, or you can use a sprayer at a local carwash. To keep your engine tidy, it is best to give it a scrub every year or two.
